Bouncy Castles, also known as closed inflatable trampolines (CITs), Bouncing castles, bouncy houses, bounce houses, jumping castles, jumpers, moon bounces, or moonwalks, are popular temporary inflatable structures and buildings. These fun attractions are frequently rented for various events, including functions, school and church festivals, village fetes, and more, making them a hit, especially among children. The rising demand for these inflatable devices has given rise to a thriving rental industry that includes inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and interactive games. Inflatables have become a top choice for portable amusements due to their ease of transport and storage.
The credit for the invention of the modern inflatable tent design in 1958 goes to American engineer John Scurlock. Scurlock, a plastics specialist with ties to NASA and Tulane University, later extended his innovative spirit to create the Space Walk safety air cushion, widely used by stunt performers and fire brigades responding to high-rise fires. The inspiration for these inventions came to him while designing inflatable tent covers for tennis courts during the late 1950s. In 1958, he founded Space Walk Inc. Furthermore, in the 1980s, the Scurlock family business introduced an indoor amusement park called The Fun Factory in Metairie, LA. Today, they continue to provide heavy-duty inflatables for various occasions, ranging from county fairs to children’s birthday parties. The idea of renting inflatables for parties is attributed to John Scurlock’s wife, Frances, who was already running a rental business by 1969.”
