Description: An accessible service for adults who would benefit from a structured physical activity programme in a safe, supervised environment. The scheme will support people in making lifestyle changes especially in those people who have a limiting lifelong illness. The scheme will promote long-term participation in regular physical activity through goal setting and developing confidence, therefore, improving the person's mental, social and physical well-being. Classes include Strong and steady (exercises for people living with Parkinson's) and Exercise after stroke.
Who is it for? The Active Health Scheme is intended for people living within the Harrogate district aged 18 years or above who have:
low to moderate risk health conditions
severe coronary heart disease or early post-myocardial infarction/coronary artery bypass graft/angioplasty (cardiac rehab classes only)
mild to moderate mental health problems (for example, depression, anxiety or stress)
diabetes type 1 and 2
post physiotherapy musculoskeletal conditions (for example, knee, hip, shoulder)
Who should I talk to about the scheme? If you think you may be eligible, please contact us or talk to a member of your healthcare team. The medical professional will send a referral letter to the active health team. You will then shortly receive a phone call or letter inviting you to make an initial appointment with an exercise referral officer.

Bilton and Woodfield Community Library is a small, friendly library at the heart of the local community. We are more than sixty local volunteers, managing and running the library for the benefit of everyone. We provide a full range of library services and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Our library is accessible by wheelchair and very child-friendly. Free public access computers, free wi-fi and free computer classes, toilet, coffee machine. Tuesday mornings 10 am is Storytime for pre-school children, Scrabble Club 2nd and 4th Fridays 2 pm, Local and Family History drop-in sessions some Fridays, coffee morning last Saturday of month 10 am-noon. This is the fourth year that the Rotarians have given support to the organisation which supports young people who are caring for family members. Previous grants have provided for teenage carers, but this time the carers are in a younger group, aged seven to eleven. ‘Budz’ is a youth club for young carers to have a regular break, away from their caring responsibilities and to make new friends who are in a similar situation to themselves.
